Platinum Rated Green Building

Pacific Controls has built the Middle East’s first-of-its-kind LEED Platinum rated "Green Building" which uses Solar for Lighting and Solar-thermal for its fresh air cooling requirement at the Techno Park in Dubai.

Spreading across an area of over 120,000 sq. ft., the Green Building is a major environmental accomplishment. The new Headquarters of Pacific Controls is the "Centre of Excellence" for the company’s R&D activities in automation business in the Middle East. The Centre will focus on developing eco-friendly automation solutions and products for the global markets.

This environment-friendly Green Building is a major environmental accomplishment that promotes energy efficiency taking into consideration environmental impacts and waste minimization.

Pacific Controls design and implement automated building control systems for their customers such as Emaar, one of the world’s largest property development companies. They have provided solutions for Dubai Airports, HSBC, Dubai Development Board and the 53-storey 21st Century Tower, ‘The Waterfront’ which is the super luxury residential tower at Dubai Marina as well as the 5 star Shangri-La hotel in Dubai.

The Requirement

Pacific Controls required a comprehensive yet intuitive, web based energy monitoring solution for use both within its Command and Control Centre and at client sites.

The solution needed to be web enabled due to the global nature of their operations. In addition, Pacific Controls required a solution which could be made available to their clients in an ASP model available over the Internet.

Importantly, they needed an enterprise solution which had a track record of managing tens of thousands of nodes effectively.

Enterprise Solution

eSight is an enterprise solution which provides Pacific Controls with the ability to organise and manage the day-to-day running of their clients’ energy usage with ease and speed – and more importantly from one location.

Within eSight, client data is clearly sorted by organisation and site for easy access. Users are then able to quickly navigate through to the relevant client data to run energy reports, analyse energy usage and much more.

The data can be viewed at any level – from several years’ worth of data, right down to ½ hourly information.

Running from Pacific Controls data centre in Dubai, it is available within their state of the art Command and Control Centre for internal use and also available over the Internet for use by their clients.

Command & Control Centre

Remote Monitoring is becoming vital for organisations and residences to keep, track of their assets, security and optimise facilities management resources. Pacific Controls uses industrial grade telemetry solutions to establish remote monitoring capability for buildings and infrastructure that transmit data and alarms to their Central Command and Control Centre.

eSight has been implemented at Pacific Controls headquarters Green Building to showcase energy analysis and reporting capabilities. Rapid implementation of eSight within the command and control centre will see eSight monitoring tens of thousands of nodes globally. eSight will be used to provide monitoring and verification facilities in addition to driving down energy consumption and emissions.

Tridium Interface

Pacific Controls use Niagara products from Tridium to provide true open solutions without regard for specific protocols, products or technologies. eSight includes the ability to directly connect to Tridium devices across the Internet using the oBIX interface.

This allows users to quickly browse an oBIX device, select a logged history entry and associate it with an eSight metering channel. Once this is complete, data from the device will be collected and stored against a metering channel within eSight.
